Serving the Treasure Coast for Over 60 Years

Academies of Cosmetology has been training cosmetologists, barbers, and massage therapists in Florida’s Treasure Coast region since 1966. With three campuses across St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin counties, we’ve helped generations of students build careers in the beauty industry right here in their own communities.

What We’re Here to Do

Our purpose is straightforward: provide quality, hands-on training in cosmetology, barbering, massage therapy, and full specialty so that students across the quad-county area can earn their licenses and build real careers.

We work with students from all walks of life. Many are changing careers, some are just starting out, and others are balancing school with family and work responsibilities. We understand that, and we build our programs around it, with flexible schedules, financial aid for those who qualify, and instructors who are genuinely invested in helping each student get where they want to go.

Our History

Fort Pierce Beauty Academy was founded in 1966 by Vera Dawson at the corner of Avenue A and 2nd Street in Fort Pierce. It was the first private cosmetology school on the Treasure Coast, and it quickly became a fixture in the local community. Regulars brought their kids, their parents, and their neighbors, year after year.

Over the decades, the school grew alongside the region it serves. Locations moved, facilities expanded, and new programs were added. What didn’t change was the school’s commitment to providing accessible, practical training to the people of the Treasure Coast.

Accreditation

All three campuses are accredited by NACCAS (National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences) and licensed by the Commission for Independent Education through the Florida Department of Education. Accreditation means our programs meet national standards for cosmetology education and that our students are eligible for federal financial aid.

All campuses are also approved for veterans training. The school complies with all equal opportunity laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, age, religion, financial status, or national origin.

Hear From Our Students

Just graduated, great school. 100% recommend to anyone wanting to start their cosmetology career. Hands on training and teaching. Kris and Emily are the best instructors ever, they never made me feel stupid, always made sure I understood what I was doing, and always made me feel like family. Happy to be done but sad to go.

The hands-on training and real salon environment gave me the confidence and skills I needed to feel prepared for my career in the beauty industry. I’ve learned so much, not just about beauty techniques but also professionalism, client care, and work ethic.

Great teachers and staff. Much support from everyone and appreciated the time spent to understanding the studies/ test preparation including how to gain skills to be a great successful massage therapist, and not to give up. I never in my life had high test scores. But , here I did. Being at age 56 it was an huge challenge, but grateful for the accomplishments that I have achieved. Even when I got sick, I got the help to get caught up with the rest of the students . This place became my own sanctuary. Dreams do come true.
