Academies of Cosmetology has been training cosmetologists, barbers, and massage therapists in Florida’s Treasure Coast region since 1966. With three campuses across St. Lucie, Indian River, and Martin counties, we’ve helped generations of students build careers in the beauty industry right here in their own communities.

3 Campuses across the Treasure Coast
4 Programs offered across locations
Our purpose is straightforward: provide quality, hands-on training in cosmetology, barbering, massage therapy, and full specialty so that students across the quad-county area can earn their licenses and build real careers.
We work with students from all walks of life. Many are changing careers, some are just starting out, and others are balancing school with family and work responsibilities. We understand that, and we build our programs around it, with flexible schedules, financial aid for those who qualify, and instructors who are genuinely invested in helping each student get where they want to go.
Fort Pierce Beauty Academy was founded in 1966 by Vera Dawson at the corner of Avenue A and 2nd Street in Fort Pierce. It was the first private cosmetology school on the Treasure Coast, and it quickly became a fixture in the local community. Regulars brought their kids, their parents, and their neighbors, year after year.
Over the decades, the school grew alongside the region it serves. Locations moved, facilities expanded, and new programs were added. What didn’t change was the school’s commitment to providing accessible, practical training to the people of the Treasure Coast.

Today
60+ years and still growing
Three accredited campuses, four programs, and a staff that has dedicated years to helping students across the region earn their licenses and pursue careers in beauty and wellness.
Training at Academies of Cosmetology is structured but personal. You’ll work through both classroom instruction and hands-on practice in a supervised student salon environment, where you’ll perform real services on real clients as you build your skills.
Classes are small enough that instructors know your name and where you are in your training. If you’re struggling with a technique or falling behind on hours, someone will notice and help you get back on track.
All three campuses are accredited by NACCAS (National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences) and licensed by the Commission for Independent Education through the Florida Department of Education. Accreditation means our programs meet national standards for cosmetology education and that our students are eligible for federal financial aid.
All campuses are also approved for veterans training. The school complies with all equal opportunity laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, age, religion, financial status, or national origin.
The best way to get a feel for our schools is to come in for a tour. You’ll see the facilities, meet the staff, and get your questions answered in person. We’d love to meet you.
